Objectives of the African West Social Forum

The organization of the fourth edition of the WASF answers therefore the following objectives:

1. to strengthen the bases of the sub-regional dynamics created during the previous editions and capitalize the acquirements in view of its perpetuation.

2. to reaffirm the hostility of the west-african civil society with regard to the neoliberal drifts of globalization: International trade, Public Aid for Development, debt and economic and social policies: debt cancellation; repairs; policies of structural adjustment; the WTO and the merchandisation of the world; Multilateral commercial agreements; free trade Agreements …

3. to reinforce the understanding of governance notion and to place the question of food sovereignty to the core of governance in West Africa, and to answer a fundamental human right: right of every being to eat appropriately.

4. to appreciate the effects and consequences of the public debt on food sovereignty and, finally, to put the bases of a social movements mobilization in favour of food sovereignty in West Africa.
